ISGW Quran Competion Winner

Last Saturday, many of our students competed in the Quran Competition at ISGW. Yousuf Mohammed (grade 1) won first place for memorizing Surah Al-Fajr beating out 40 other participants. Congratulations, Yousuf!

Successful Book Fair

Students enjoyed a week of fun and excitement during the book fair. Students had multiple opportunities to read and have access to books. This event was made possible through the hard work of Salma Guenoun. We thank her for all the work she did in preparation for the week and during the book fair. We would also like to thank the following volunteers for making themselves available to support this program: Randa Kasmieh, Marla Laddaoui, Naureen Mallick, Laila Mhirig, and Aisha Siddiqua.

Thank you parents for supporting this literacy program through purchasing books.

Report Cards

Every student should have received a report card last Tuesday. Please take the time to read through the grades and comments. Report cards should be signed and returned by Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Daycare open during Feb. Vacation

Looking for childcare during the February vacation? Alhuda Academy Daycare will be open to children of all ages. 7:30am-5:30pm, rate for school-age children is $5/hour. Infection Prevention Presentations

Given the flu and winter sicknesses season, on February 8, students will attend a presentation here at school about infection prevention given by a registered nurse from the Division of Public Health in Worcester.

Uniform Reminder Update

Uniform reminder update- Normal uniform policy is white shirts and khaki pants/ jumpers/ skirts; with white hijabs for girls in grades 5 and up. If students elect to wear a sweater inside the school, the sweater must be white, beige/ khaki or green without any other colors on it. Students wearing any other color sweaters must remove them in school. This is the same uniform policy which has been in the handbook. Policy will be strictly enforced.

Jan. 25 Picture Retakes

Picture retakes is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 25th. If your child was absent you can order portraits. Just pick up an order form from the school office. If you were not satisfied with your child’s portrait, please return the original portrait to the school office and let us know if you want his/her picture retaken.

Book Fair Next Week

Join us in sharing a love of reading with our students at Alhuda Academy’s Scholastic Book Fair on Jan. 30-Feb. 3. This year’s theme is Book Fair Luau: It’s a Reading Celebration. Please join us in helping make the Book Fair a memorable reading celebration. It’s a great way to connect your kids with books they want to read!

During Book Fair Week your child’s class will be visiting the Book Fair each morning from Tuesday to Friday for about 20 minutes so they can discover and purchase books of interest.

Book Fair Events:

We are planning for a week that will be fun-filled and exciting for the students all while promoting literacy and a love for books. Activities include daily book fair visits, a scavenger hunt, special read-alouds, arts and crafts, a Luau themed dress-up day, and crazy hat day. The Book Fair will also be opened to the larger community on Friday, Feb. 3 from 1:30-3:30PM. So please encourage friends and family to attend!
