As-Salaamu Alaykum! This page contains important information and updates for academic year 2010-11. Please consult it periodically throughout the summer.

Important Dates:

August 11: Ramadan begins

August 30: Teachers return

September 14: First day of School

Your child will be graded on the 5 activities during the first reporting term. Reading list/activities should be returned to your child’s teacher by September 30th.

Yearbooks have arrived!

You may pick up your yearbook in the main office during summer office hours. If you haven’t already ordered your 2009-2010 Alhuda Yearbook, you can still purchase one at the main office. The price is $25 per yearbook. Don’t miss your chance to buy the yearbook which captures great memories from this memorable year at Alhuda!

Summer Office Hours

The school office will be open daily next week from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Summer office hours will start on Monday, June 21st until August 20th. Summer office hours are Monday and Wednesday from 10:00am to 1:00pm and Friday from 9:00am to 2:00pm. We are closed for one week in July from Monday the 5th to Friday the 9th. If you would like to reach us outside of these times, please leave a message on the school phone and we will get back to you as soon as we receive it.

The school office will reopen daily on August 23rd.

State Science Fair Results

We are very proud to announce that three of our students were recognized in the state science fair last Saturday. This is especially great considering that there were more than 400 projects from all over Massachusetts.

Summer Arabic and Qur’an

Last week, we sent you the summer reading lists and asked you to make an effort to help your child read and do the summer activities.

During the summer vacation, it’s just as important that students continue to practice the Arabic language skills they have learned throughout the school year so they may retain the learning and be ready for the following year. For this reason each student will be assigned an Arabic packet for the summer to be returned no later than September 30th.

Students entering 1^st and 2^nd grade will need to read and write to answer the packet.

Students entering grades 3 and up will also be asked to read, finish and return the Arabic packet. Additionally, they will be tested and graded for their effort.

We would also like students to take advantage of the summer vacation to memorize more Qur’an. A Ramadan Surah will be assigned to every single student. Students entering grades 1 and up will be tested and graded on the Ramadan Surah aftercoming back to school, Inshallah. A copy of the Surah will be sent home with your child to practice.

You may choose other book selections for your children; we just ask students to read good literature that reflects their reading levels.

We have received surveys from many families. Thank you for taking the time to fill them out. We will be contacting you if we have not received yours back yet. Unfortunately, there was no classroom winner because no single classroom brought back all the surveys.
