Flu & Graduation Update

Jun 5th, 2009 | By | Category: News

Dear Parents,

Assalamu Alikum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh,

Thank you for showing patience during this time of difficulty. So far, we have had 1 suspected case of swine flu and about 20 student and faculty that have had the flu. These have mostly been mild cases and there is no great cause for concern. Alhamdulillah, most are recuperating. But in the interest of student and faculty safety, we felt it important to err on the side of caution. We are back on schedule. School will reopen on Monday, June 8th, God willing.

As we come back to school on Monday, let’s help each other to ensure safety of all our students and faculty. Please follow these guidelines:

• If your child shows ANY flu symptoms, keep him home and call his pediatrician for consultation, then call us to share the information.

• If a child is found to have the flu, keep him home for 7 days or 24 hours after he is completely recovered when symptoms persist beyond 7 days.

• If a family member has the flu or flu symptoms, let us know.

• Administrators and teachers will be screening students at the entrance in the morning and throughout the day. Any student presenting flulike symptoms will be sent home right away. In this case we need you to pick up your child promptly.

Please be aware of the following changes:

Preschool and KG graduation has been rescheduled for Monday, June 8th after Dhuhr prayer. All preschoolers and kindergarteners are invited to spend 1 full day in class, closing the year, preparing for the graduation, and then attending the graduation and the party afterward. Please bring refreshments. Please remember do not bring food containing nuts. This event is open to the community.

Field Day is on June 9th. Preschoolers, kindergarteners, and eighth graders are invited back for Field Day.

Eighth grade graduation has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 13th at 10:00 a.m. Please invite family and friends to this community event. Please spread the news that this event has been rescheduled.

As mentioned in an earlier memo, the school and frequented building areas have been sanitized. We are confident that these steps will help protect our students. We depend on Allah’s protection and ask Him for continuous blessings.

Sincerely,
Nada El-Alami, Principal
