Temporary School Cancellation
Jun 3rd, 2009 | By | Category: NewsDear Parents,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh,
On Monday 6/1 after school, new information relating to the possible H1N1 flu case was brought to our attention. One of our students is now suspected but not confirmed to have caught the flu.
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation with the school while making cancelation decisions and apologize for any inconvenience our sudden closing has put you through. We have been analyzing data as it trickled in from different families and have tried to be diligent to make the best possible decisions for Alhuda community.
Based on the number of students who presented flulike symptoms yesterday and although the case of H1N1 flu has not been screened positive by the state yet, we have decided to close the school until Monday. We are asking you to do the following:
• During the coming few days, keep your children away from congregations and community events. Do not send them to Jumua prayer and Friday Halaqa.
• If your child shows any flu symptoms, call his pediatrician for consultation then leave us a message at the school answering machine.
• When we come back to school on Monday, we will be screening students at the entrance and throughout the day. Any student presenting flulike symptoms will be sent home right away.
• Do not bring your children to school until 7 days after they first show flulike symptoms or 24 hours after they have completely recovered when symptoms persist beyond 7 days. Please bring a note from their physician.
We have sanitized the school today and are ready to have students back to school on Monday. All school activities are cancelled for this week. We will personally call to update parents on the preschool and kindergarten graduation. The eighth grade graduation planned for Sunday is on schedule unless otherwise notified.
For more information please go to www.mass.gov/dph/swineflu for a flu symptom checklist and www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu for resources from the Centers of Disease Control H1N1 Flu Website.
May Allah protect our students. Please make duaa’ for the sick.
Sincerely,
Nada El-Alami
